Company Description
Viridis Energy (formerly GridSense Systems) thought it made business sense to stay in the energy business. Formerly focused on making products to help electric utilities and heavy industries monitor electrical circuits, the company now focuses on developing biomass fuel. Viridis Energy supplies more than 5% of British Columbia's wood pellet output to power plants across North America. It has made a number of acquisitions to bolster its supply base, including Westwood Fibre Products (now Okanagan Pellet Company) and Cypress Pacific Marketing. In 2011 it bought Confluence Energy LLC, a major wood pellet manufacturer based in Colorado, and in 2012, Enligna Canada, a wood pellet mill operator in Nova Scotia.
