Company Description
VIDAR Systems makes large-format scanners, medical film digitizers, and document management software. The company's color and monochrome scanners, with their related software, are used in architectural design and engineering, computer-aided design, copy shops, geographic information systems, prepress printing, and reprographics. VIDAR's medical film digitizers find uses in such specialties as computer-aided detection, mammography, oncology, orthopedic surgery, remote primary diagnosis, and teleradiology. In 2012 Denmark-based Contex Group sold VIDAR and Z Corporation to 3D Systems for more than $135 million as part of a larger deal that includes another Contex subsidiary, Z Corporation.
