Valeant Pharmaceuticals (formerly Biovail) is a bold purveyor of neurological health. The drugmaker develops and sells central nervous system therapies, including Huntington's disease treatment Xenazine and Wellbutrin XL, an extended-release version of GlaxoSmithKline's antidepressant Wellbutrin. The firm also makes Ultram ER, a long-acting version of J&J's chronic pain drug Ultram. Other products include genital herpes treatment Zovirax, anti-hypertensive Tiazac, diabetes drug Glumetza, and acne treatment Acanya. It is developing new central nervous system (CNS) therapies. To further expand in neurology, the company merged with the former Valeant Pharmaceuticals and took on the Valeant name in 2010.
