Company Description
Vale has more than just one iron in the fire. Iron ore and pellets account for more than two-thirds of Vale's sales, and the company accounts for a third of the world's ocean-shipped iron ore. Vale also mines for bauxite, nickel, kaolin, and potash. Other products include steel, copper, and aluminum. It has holdings in hydroelectric power generation and in the rail and shipping businesses, mainly to support its mining activities in Brazil.
