VECTEC (Virginia Electronic Commerce Technology Center) provides e-commerce technology and services as well as education to small and medium-sized businesses, especially rural ones, in Virginia. The not-for-profit enterprise works with more than 150 business and government entities including The Smithfield Companies, Bennette Paint Manufacturing, and The Diabetes Institutes Foundation. VECTEC is housed on the campus of Christopher Newport University and has satellite offices in Lebanon, Virginia and South Boston, Virginia. It was founded in 1994 as SEVAnet, the Southeastern Virginia Regional Network, and became VECTEC in 1997.
