The University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics Authority has the last word when it comes to the health of Badger Staters; there's not much this health care provider doesn't do. The centerpiece of the authority is the UW Hospital and Clinics medical campus which is home to a 490-bed hospital, the American Family Children's Hospital and a small inpatient psychiatric ward, as well as Level One adult and pediatric trauma centers. The hospital administers cancer treatment, heart and stroke care, organ transplantation, and a host of other medical services. The UW Hospital and Clinics campus also houses some 85 health clinics that provide general and specialty outpatient care and emergency room services.
