The University of Washington (UW) is Husky indeed, with an enrollment of some 40,000 students. Founded in 1861 as the Territorial University of Washington, UW (pronounced "U-dub" by those on campus) has smaller branches in Tacoma and Bothell in addition to its main Seattle campus. The university, whose mascot is a Husky, offers undergraduate, graduate, and professional degree programs in some 150 fields of study at more than 15 schools and colleges.
