The University of South Florida (USF) is bullishly educational. The school has some 48,000 students at four campuses in Tampa, St. Petersburg, Sarasota/Manatee, and Lakeland on a total of 1,800 acres. It offers some 230 undergraduate, graduate, specialty, and doctoral degree programs through more than a dozen colleges, including Architecture and Community Design, Arts and Sciences, Business, Education, Engineering, Marine Science, and Visual and Performing Arts. USF also offers graduate certificates, continuing education courses, and teacher certifications. The university has some 2,000 teaching faculty members and maintains a 27-to-1 student-faculty ratio. USF was founded in 1960; its mascot is the bull.
