Company Description

United Bankshares (no relation to Ohio's United Bancshares) keeps it together as the holding company for two subsidiaries doing business as United Bank, one headquartered in West Virginia and another in Virginia.  The banks operate about 130 offices that serve West Virginia, Virginia, and Washington, DC, as well as nearby portions of Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. They offer traditional deposit, trust, and lending services, with a focus on residential mortgages and commercial loans. United Bankshares also owns United Brokerage Services, which provides investments, asset management, and financial planning in addition to brokerage services.
