This UCS isn't full of sun bathing coeds or surfers. It's packed with scientists. The Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) is an environmental organization that researches air quality, alternative energy sources, food safety and other public health issues, and the impact of global warming and nuclear war. The not-for-profit alliance includes more than 200,000 scientists and other individuals. The UCS publishes reports as well as Catalyst magazine and the Earthwise newsletter. Slightly more than half of the organization's funding comes from grants and foundations.
