The indie label, founded in 1997 by DJ and art designer Andy Votel (né Shalcross) and musician Damon Gough, produces and distributes releases by such musical artists as Badly Drawn Boy, Jukes, Misty Dixon, Rebelski, Aidan Smith, and Toolshed. Twisted Nerve Records also organizes tours featuring its recording artists. Under Votel's art direction, the label is acclaimed not only for its music, but also for its artistic cover designs and packaging.
