Transhumance Holdings ("transhumance" is defined as the seasonal movement of livestock between mountainous and lowland pastures) does business as Superior Farms -- the largest slaughterer and processor of lamb in the US. The company supplies naturally raised domestic and Australian lamb for the US market. Superior Farms also processes veal and offers a limited line of beef and pork value-added products through a partnership with Niman Ranch. Superior's customers include retail food outlets, including Wal-Mart and Kroger, as well as foodservice operators throughout the company. Its brand names include Simply Superior, Country Meadow, Pure Lamb, and Superior Farms.
