Tracinda may be a major stakeholder in casino and hotel operator MGM Resorts International, but its biggest show is owner and billionaire investor Kirk Kerkorian. Kerkorian has owned all or part of movie maker MGM three times. He has also been the scourge (or savior, depending on your view) of the automobile industry, with shares at various times in GM, Chrysler, and Ford. However, in light of troubled economic conditions, Tracinda ditched its auto shares and decided to focus its investment strategy on old standbys -- hospitality, gaming, and the oil and gas industries. It owns around a third of Delta Petroleum and a quarter of MGM Resorts. Tracinda is named after Kerkorian's daughters, Tracy and Linda.
