Company Description
Kids rule the aisles while parents tag along for the ride at Toys "R" Us. It's one of the world's largest toy retailers, but it has lost its top position in the US to retailing behemoth Wal-Mart. Toys "R" Us sells its wares in more than 1,600 stores in the US and worldwide, as well as online. In addition to about 600 US namesake stores selling toys, games, and other items for kids, Toys "R" Us sells infant and toddler apparel, furniture, and feeding supplies at some 270 Babies "R" Us stores in more than 40 states. Privately held by investment companies KKR and Bain Capital, and real estate firm Vornado Realty Trust, Toys "R" Us filed to go public in May 2010, but has yet to list on the New York Stock Exchange.
