Company Description

Tomkins Limited (formerly Tomkins plc) companies make and distribute automotive products, industrial power systems, plumbing components, valves, and construction products, while also designing integrated circuits for automotive and industrial customers. In the US, Tomkins' brand divisions include Gates (automotive belts and hoses) and Selkirk (chimneys and venting pipe products). The multinational conglomerate gets about 10% of its sales from the Detroit Three -- Chrysler, Ford Motor, and General Motors. Tomkins makes more than half of its sales in the US. Canada-based Onex and the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) acquired Tomkins in the latter part of 2010 for $5 billion.
