Company Description
Tiomin Resources has changed its focus from Kenyan titanium to include Chinese base metals and Brazilian diamonds. In 2008 the company bought Radiant Resources, a Canadian miner that explores for copper and zinc in northwest China. Two years later it agreed to buy Vaaldiam, a Canadian diamond miner with Brazilian properties in production. Previously Tiomin's primary operation had been the development of the Kwale titanium project in Kenya. Though it had hoped to begin production on Kwale in 2007, governmental and financing disputes forced a delay. Perhaps relatedly, Tiomin agreed to sell the Kwale project to Australian miner Base Iron in 2010, not long after it agreed to buy Vaaldiam.
