Company Description
Timminco hopes it has the mettle to stay in business. The company produces solar-grade silicon used by the solar photovoltaic energy industry. Timminco has manufacturing facilities in Australia and North America; most of its sales are to customers in the US. It holds just under 50% of Norwegian company Fundo Wheels, an aluminum wheels maker, and Canadian silicon metals company Bécancour Silicon is also a subsidiary. It had also manufactured magnesium-based metals and other specialty alloys used in such products as batteries, automotive parts, and aerospace equipment, but in 2009 the company divested those operations.
