A few West Texas rivers do run through Three Rivers Operating Company's oil and gas assets. An exploration and production company, Three Rivers operates from assets covering more than 200,000 net acres in the Permian Basin in West Texas and southeastern New Mexico. Its three core operating areas -- the Conventional Permian, the Bone Spring formation in the Delaware Basin, and Wolfberry in the Midland Basin -- have proved reserves of 73.9 million barrels of oil equivalent. The company uses hydraulic fracturing and conventional techniques to extract resources from otherwise non-producing and undeveloped reserves. Formed in 2010, Three Rivers filed to go public in early 2012.
