The flagship Tuscaloosa campus, created in 1936, offers more than 200 degree programs to more than 25,000 students. The University of Alabama at Birmingham offers nearly 140 degree programs and has an enrollment of more than 16,000 students; it is also home to the university's school of medicine and a 900-bed hospital. The system's Huntsville campus has about 7,000 students enrolled in its five colleges and graduate school. Each campus offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs.
