It sometimes seems like it's The SCO Group against the world. Once a Linux distributor, SCO Group left that market in favor of selling its UNIX operating system products. The company gained widespread attention based upon litigation and asserting that Linux programs may illegally contain elements of the UNIX source code. Alleging misappropriation of trade secrets and other charges, SCO has sued a number of companies, including IBM and Novell . After several legal defeats, the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2007. In 2008 Stephen Norris Capital Partners and other investors agreed to provide SCO up to $100 million in financing, but the proposed funding was delayed by the company's creditors.
