Dubbing itself a pioneering developer of enclosed shopping malls, the Richard E. Jacobs Group (The Jacobs Group) develops, owns, and manages retail, office, and hotel properties throughout the US. Its current focus, however, is on the Cleveland area, as well as the Tampa and Fort Myers, Florida, area. The company has historically owned and managed about 40 malls totaling more than 45 million sq. ft. It also built Ohio's tallest building, the 57-story Key Tower in downtown Cleveland. Among its notable hotel assets is the Pier House Resort and Caribbean Spa in Key West, Florida. Chairman and CEO Richard E. Jacobs, who founded The Jacobs Group in 1955 with his late brother David H. Jacobs, passed away in 2009.
