Not to be confused with the US Mint, The Franklin Mint was founded in 1964 by Joseph Segal (who later founded QVC) and was known for making coins. Today, the company sells die-cast cars and airplanes, precision modeling, and Harley-Davidson-branded items that are produced under licensing agreements. It also offers hand-painted collectibles, such as commemorative dolls (many made to look like living and dead celebrities), as well as jewelry and seasonal giftware. Goods peddled by the collectibles company are distributed to wholesalers and sold online. Stewart and Lynda Resnick owned The Franklin Mint from 1985 to 2006, when the couple sold it to a group led by executives from The Morgan Mint.
