The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society (TELGSS) strives to be a good neighbor to all, particularly to elderly people in need of housing and health care. The not-for-profit organization owns or leases some 230 senior living facilities, including nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and affordable housing projects for seniors. Through its facilities, it also provides home health care services, outpatient rehabilitation, adult day care, and a variety of other services. The first Good Samaritan center opened its doors in 1923 as a home for disabled children. It operates in about two dozen US states.
