The utility, which was established in 1935, distributes energy in a 600 sq.-ml. area that includes greater Chattanooga, as well as parts of surrounding counties in Georgia and Tennessee. It gets its wholesale power supply from the Tennessee Valley Authority. EPB also provides telecommunications (telephone and Internet) services to area homes and businesses through its EPB Fiber Optics unit.
