The authority's flagship facility is East Alabama Medical Center (EAMC), a general acute-care hospital with more than 350 beds and a skilled nursing facility with about 35 beds. Facilities at the medical center include an adult day care center, cancer center, hospice, sleep disorders lab, and surgery center. Services include diagnostic imaging, physical therapy, respiratory care, and behavioral care. Founded as an 80-bed hospital in 1952, East Alabama Medical Center serves residents of Lee County and four surrounding counties in east-central Alabama with a medical staff of about 130 physicians.
