    The Brooklyn Hospital Center has been taking care of ailing Kings County residents since before Brooklyn was a borough. Established in 1845 (before Brooklyn became part of New York City), the hospital houses some 460 beds and is a member of the NewYork-Presbyterian Healthcare System. It provides general medical and surgical care, as well as a wide variety of specialty medical services including pediatric and cardiovascular care. Brooklyn Hospital is affiliated with Weill Medical College of Cornell University.
