Company Description
The All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club is a private tennis club that hosts Wimbledon, the oldest and arguably the most prestigious event of professional tennis. The club operates 18 grass tournament courts that can be used by its 375 full members, as well as the historic Centre Court where the tournament championship matches are held. (True to the club's name, there is also a croquet lawn.) The club was founded in 1868 as the All England Croquet Club and moved to its current location on Church Road in 1922. The first Wimbledon championship was held in 1877 and to this day the tournament is the only Grand Slam venue that employs grass courts.
