TECO Energy keeps the juice flowing in west central Florida. The firm's Tampa Electric unit distributes power to almost 672,000 customers and has about 4,685 MW of generating capacity. The company produces almost all of its electricity from coal. TECO also distributes natural gas in Florida through its Peoples Gas System unit (more than 336,000 customers). Other operations include TECO Coal, a coal mining company with operations in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Virginia. TECO also operates TECO Guatemala, which owns two power plants with long term sales agreements.
