Company Description
The sugar rush from Tate & Lyle -- once one of the world's largest makers of white and raw cane sugar -- is over. The company went sugar free in 2010 to focus on two core businesses: Specialty Food Ingredients and Bulk Ingredients. Tate & Lyle production facilities dot the world, each transforming raw materials into either specialty food or bulk ingredients used mainly by makers of food and beverages and, less so, animal-feed, and other goods. Its Specialty Food Ingredients include sucralose, the no-calorie sweetened sold under the brand SPLENDA, and corn-based specialty starches and sweeteners. Bulk Ingredients are corn-based bulk sweeteners, industrial starches and fermentation products, called acidulants.
