Founded in 1923 when Christian Trumpf and his partners acquired a machine shop, TRUMPF burgeoned into a leading maker of production machinery. The company operates through three divisions: Machine Tools/Power Tools (flexible sheet metal processing, bevellers, cutters, deburrers, fasteners, nibblers, seam lockers, shears), Laser Technology/Electronics (industrial lasers for cutting, welding, marking, and forming applications; laser generators), and Medical Technology (operating tables, surgical lights, ceiling mounts). It gets about 70% of its sales outside Germany. TRUMPF is managed and controlled by the Leibinger family.
