Company Description
TJ Hughes wants its customers to be proud of their penny-pinching. The discount department store chain operates about half a dozen stores (down from more than 55 not long ago) in the UK, and an online shop. The stores sell apparel, home goods and household appliances, cosmetics and fragrances, and toys and games. Its target customers are generally women in their 40's. Founded in 1912, TJ Hughes collapsed into administration amid weak sales in June 2011 and closed more than 50 stores. Six locations, including its flagship store in Liverpool, were sold to retail group Benross soon after.
