It wasn't until 1995 that the crazy, cartoon orange character was officially adopted as the school's mascot, but Syracuse University has been around since 1870. The school offers more than 200 undergraduate majors in areas such as communications, computer science, engineering, psychology, art, mathematics, music, and library science. It enrolls more than 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students and has some 1,000 full-time faculty members on its campus in central New York State.
