Syntroleum is looking for business synergies with energy companies. The company licenses its patented gas-to-liquids (GTL) process (also known as the Fischer-Tropsch process), which converts natural gas into synthetic crude oil by using air instead of pure oxygen. The liquids produced can be refined into fuels such as diesel and kerosene, as well as specialty products such as synthetic lubricants, waxes, and chemical feedstocks. In 2007 Syntroleum formed a joint venture called Dynamic Fuels with chicken giant Tyson Foods. The JV will use Syntroleum's biorefining technologies to process Tyson's animal fat, natural greases, and vegetable oils into a synthetic fuel used for jet, diesel, and military fuels. To read the full description, subscribe now.
