The business uses the study of morbidity trends and mortality rates to provide traditional life reinsurance to life insurance companies in North America. Swiss Re's Life & Health business group also includes Admin Re, a unit that specializes in acquiring closed blocks of in-force life and health insurance through reinsurance or corporate acquisitions and assuming responsibility for the policies. Its sister-company Swiss Reinsurance America handles property and casualty reinsurance in the US.
