Company Description
Sutherland Asset Management Corporation isn't backing down from the volatile housing market. The newly formed real estate investment trust (REIT) has plans to acquire residential mortgage-backed securities (MBS), residential loans, asset-backed securities (ABS), and other financial assets. It will be externally managed by financial advisor Waterfall Asset Management and Waterfall's affiliate M.D. Sass Investor Services (MDSIS). Sutherland will provide returns to its stockholders through dividend distributions and capital appreciation. Sutherland filed an IPO in May 2009.
