Staples UK sells office products of all sorts -- office supplies, furniture,  business machines (computers, printers, fax machines), and copy and print services. The company, a subsidiary of US-based Staples, operates about 135 stores throughout England, Scotland, and Wales. The company also sells office products online and by catalog. Staples UK was formed in 1992 via a joint venture with Kingfisher (UK), which Staples later bought out. In 2006, the firm acquired rival Office World, a British office products retailer. In a move that boosted its operations in Europe substantially, Staples UK's US parent company in 2008 acquired Dutch office supplies wholesaler Corporate Express NV for about $2.7 billion.
