The company was founded in 1929 by Samuel Cohen and brothers Morris and Max Blumberg. The Blumberg brothers earlier established another Michigan-based electrical distributor, Madison Electric, an affiliate of Standard Electric with 10 Michigan locations. Another affiliated firm, U.P. Electric/Wittock Supply Co., is a distributor of electrical and mechanical products with four locations on the upper Michigan peninsula. The company is owned by its directors and their families.
