St. Joseph Health System has earned a medal for decades by caring for patients on the West Coast and, more recently, the South Plains. The health care network operates 14 acute care hospitals, three home health agencies, a half-dozen urgent care centers, and other health care delivery organizations throughout California and in eastern New Mexico and West Texas. In its primary market of California, the health system has some 2,900 beds at 10 hospitals. Its Covenant Health System unit operates in Texas and New Mexico with about 1,200 beds in its network of some 50 primary care facilities.
