Company Description
Spirent Communications has high aspirations for its telecom gear. The company (formerly known as just Spirent and, before that, as Bowthorpe) makes communications testing systems, which telecommunications equipment manufacturers and network service providers use to test the performance and reliability of a wide range of networking equipment, including asynchronous transfer mode, Ethernet, frame relay, and Internet protocol gear. Spirent's Systems group offers power control devices for electrically powered wheelchairs and scooters. Spirent engaged in a program of acquisitions and divestitures to focus on its main line of business in communications testing. North America provides the majority of Spirent's sales.
