There's something mystical about Spartan Foods of America (SFA). The company owns the famous Mystic Pizza pizzeria in Mystic, Connecticut. It also distributes a line of frozen pizzas under the Mystic Pizza brand to stores throughout the New England area. In addition, SFA makes and sells pizza crusts, refrigerated pancakes, packaged pepperoni slices, and pizza sauces under the Mama Mary's brand name. Mama Mary's products are distributed in some 20,000 retail supermarkets nationwide, as well as to foodservice and private-label customers. Thomas Baliker started the company in 1987, naming the Mama Mary product line after his mother, Mary. Private equity firm Linsalata Capital Partners owns SFA.
