Company Description

Solitron Devices' tiny devices have taken some big trips -- to Jupiter on the Galileo spacecraft and to Mars on the Sojourner. Used primarily in military and aerospace applications, the company's solid-state semiconductor components include thin-film resistors, field-effect and power transistors, and hybrid circuits. Nearly all of Solitron's sales come from US government contractors, including Raytheon (about 39% of sales) and Lockheed Martin. The US government itself accounts for 10% of sales. Solitron has faced ongoing financial challenges (plus attention from the EPA in relation to some of the company's former manufacturing sites) since it emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1996.
