Company Description
Soitec claims no tech for growing soybeans, but plenty for making semiconductors. Soitec (short for Silicon-On-Insulator Technologies) is a pioneer in the production of silicon-on-insulator (SOI) semiconductor wafers. SOI technology allows chips to run faster and with less energy consumption. Soitec was founded by André-Jacques Auberton-Hervé (CEO) and Jean-Michel Lamure (who died in 2006), engineering veterans of France's Laboratoire d'Electronique et de Technologies de l'Information (LETI). The first licensee for Soitec's SOI technology was Japanese wafer maker
