Silgan Holdings -- through subsidiary Silgan Containers -- is the leading maker of metal food containers in North America. Its containers are used by customers such as Campbell Soup, Del Monte, and Nestlé to package soups, vegetables, meat, seafood, and pet food. Through Silgan Plastics, Silgan also makes plastic containers used by personal care, pharmaceutical, and other companies. Silgan applies its "can-do" attitude to producing metal, composite, and plastic vacuum closures, as well, for the food and beverage industries. Co-chairmen Philip Silver and Greg Horrigan founded Silgan, and together own about 30% of the company.
