Brands include Silentnight Beds, Sealy, Layezee Beds, Rest Assured, and Pocket Spring. (The company estimates that one of every four beds sold in the UK is a Silentnight Group brand.) Founded by the late Tom and Joan Clarke in 1946 as Clarke's Mattresses, the company was renamed Silentnight in 1951 and went public in 1973. It was taken private in 2003 after returning to family control through investment trust Famco Holdings.
