The company, a subsidiary of Shell Oil's Shell Oil Products US unit, is one of the largest petroleum products pipeline transportation companies in the US. Shell Pipeline has partial ownership of 10,000 miles of pipeline and annually moves more than 2 billion gallons of oil and petroleum products across 21 states. Shell Pipeline transports more than 50 different kinds of crude oil, more than 20 different grades of gasoline, including diesel fuel, jet fuel, chemicals, ethylene, and NGLs.
