It also offers outpatient surgery and other health services in areas such as pediatrics, rehabilitation, oncology, and radiology. Its staff includes about 700 physicians with about 50 specialties. The medical center's emergency department receives some 50,000 visits each year. SMMC also operates satellite facilities, including the Shawnee Mission Outpatient Pavilion in nearby Lenexa, which offers emergency and outpatient diagnostic, general practice, and surgical care.
