The flagship facility of Sharp HealthCare, the not-for-profit hospital has roughly 370 beds and is a designated trauma center for San Diego County. Specialties include cardiac care, women's health, multi-organ transplantation, and cancer treatment. It also provides skilled nursing, home health, and hospice services. Sharp Memorial Hospital first opened in 1955. Sharp HealthCare completed reconstruction efforts on the Sharp Memorial facility in 2009; the new hospital has improved inpatient, surgery, emergency, trauma, and intensive care facilities.
