Company Description
Although the name "bin Laden" is tied to deceased terrorist mastermind Osama, members of his family (he had more than 50 siblings) prefer to be known for the business operations of the Saudi Binladin Group (SBG). The family reportedly disowned Osama bin Laden in 1994. The construction and real estate development conglomerate was founded in 1931 by Osama's father, Mohammed bin Laden (or Binladin). By developing close ties to the Saudi royal family, the group expanded to include engineering, manufacturing, and telecommunications. SBG builds projects such as airports, housing, tunnels, and bridges in the Middle East. The company's industrial and power projects unit operates as Arabian BEMCO Contracting Co.
