Company Description
Saputo is the big cheese in Canada. The country's #1 dairy processor (and snack-cake maker), Saputo produces staple and specialty cheeses for sale to retail, foodservice, and industrial customers, mainly in Canada and the US. Armstrong, Frigo, Stella, and Treasure Cave, are some of its big brands. Saputo also distributes imported cheeses to the Canadian consumer retail market. Its dairy offerings include Neilson and Dairyland label fluid milk and yogurt, and dairy ingredients. The company also bakes up snack cakes, tarts, and cereal bars under such brands as Vachon and Granny's. Originally a small mozzarella maker, Saputo has grown through acquisitions. In 2011 it bought Fairmount Cheese, parent to DCI Cheese.
