Filipinos filling out grocery lists turn to San Miguel Corporation (SMC). It is the largest beverage and food firm in the Philippines, with more than 100 facilities in Southeast Asia and China. The company makes most of its sales from its beverage unit (beer and liquor), while its Pure Food unit manufactures a variety of products, including meats, condiments, and coffee. SMC also has packaging operations, as well as a controlling stake in the country's biggest oil refiner, Petron Corporation, a minority share in Manila Electric, and a joint venture with Qatar Telecom that operates a mobile and broadband businesses in the Philippines. SMC has other interests in energy, telecommunications, and banking.
